What
exactly does 'Paranormal' mean?
The
dictionary definition is 'Not understandable in terms
of known scientific laws and phenomena' (www.dictionary.com)
which covers a very wide range of possible phenomena;
from telepathy to spirit manifestations - or ghosts to
you and me!
I am used to
strange things happening around me that might be described
as 'Paranormal'; they have been going on for virtually
my entire life - but I am not daft, and I try very hard
to find rational explanations for things that at first
glance, might seem out of the ordinary. However, there
are some things which would seem to defy any ordinary
explanations…
Let me give
you one very ordinary example. A few years ago, when the
children were younger, we went to visit my mum. The children
had taken a few toys with them to play with and when we
left we gathered them up and placed them in a carrier
bag which we plonked in the middle of the dining room
floor when we got home. The bag was in the way; and I
made a mental note to move it later. However, later on
that evening, when the children wanted their toys from
the bag…the bag was gone.
Now I know
this sounds unbelievable, but we searched high and low
for that bag, we knew where it was, and then somehow it
wasn't there anymore. Of course you do all the normal
things - we phoned my mum, to check that we had not left
it behind (even though we knew we hadn't), we searched
the car and the whole house…but it had disappeared completely
- we knew that nobody else had been in, or had moved it,
we kept returning to the spot where it should have been…but
to no avail. We gave up in the end and forgot all about
it. …And then, about a month later, I walked into the
dining room and tripped over it. I told you this would
sound unbelievable - but there it was-one supermarket
carrier bag, containing a couple of 'cuddly friends',
some sweet wrappers and half a packet of biscuits.
We sincerely
cannot explain this; it vanished for a month and reappeared
in the same spot!
Oh-and whilst
I am on the subject, just a couple of days ago (Sunday
August 20th 2006) my husband was sorting out some paperwork
and had a fresh batch of plastic A4 pockets spread all
over the floor behind his office chair. I kept on sliding
on the flaming things as I walked back and forth doing
what I had to do…then he asked me where I had put them!
I had not moved them. He had not moved them - and the
kids were not around. So where they are now is anyone's
guess! Presumably in the same alternate dimension that
the carrier went to…If anyone is listening in that dimension
- could we have them back please?
